Referrals

If your condition requires care beyond what Direct2Care provides, your provider can issue a referral during your visit. Referrals are included in your visit notes in Elation Passport after your visit is completed. See [Accessing your visit notes] if you haven't set up your Elation Passport account yet.

In some cases, your provider may refer you to in-person care rather than a specialist, for example, if your condition needs to be examined or treated directly.


Specialty referrals

Direct2Care providers can refer you to a wide range of specialists and services, including orthopedics, neurology, dermatology, pulmonology, dentistry, physical therapy, and more based on what's available in your area.

Your referral details will be included in your Elation Passport account after your visit.

If you have health insurance

We recommend calling your insurance provider first — they can give you a list of contracted specialists in your area, which helps ensure your visit is covered. If you'd like additional resources or help finding options, Direct2Care's Clinical Care team is happy to assist as well.

If you don't have health insurance

Low-cost clinic options are available in most areas. Contact Direct2Care Support and we can help point you in the right direction.


Mental health referrals

If your provider determines you would benefit from ongoing mental health support, they'll connect you with BetterHelp, a professional counseling platform used by Direct2Care for mental health care.

After your visit, Direct2Care's Clinical Care team will call you and follow up with an email walking you through how to get started. See [Getting mental health care] for the full process.
